Electronic payment service and technology firm AsiaPay and Discover Financial Services’ payments brand, Discover Global Network, have extended acceptance in Asia.
The relationship allows AsiaPay’s merchants to accept Discover, Diners Club International and affiliate networks cards via the technology firm’s PayDollar omni-channel payment management platform.
A holistic integrated card payment processing service will be provided by AsiaPay for
Point-of-sale merchants in Hong Kong and digital merchants in Asia will be allowed to access AsiaPay’s holistic integrated card payment processing service, particularly in the hospitality and eCommerce sectors.
Discover Global Network cardholders will have increased acceptance at merchants in over 12 markets in Asia including, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia.
The companies plan initial launch in Hong Kong with further extension across Asia in the future.
Discover’s 3D Secure technology, ProtectBuy, will be introduced to provide improved authentication and minimise fraudulent payment activities as well as potential revenue losses of merchants.
Discover Financial Services senior vice president of global acceptance Amy Parsons said: “It is important to us that when our cardholders travel they are able to use their card of choice at merchants that matter to them.
“AsiaPay’s strong ecommerce portfolio in the travel and entertainment sector will help us towards the goal of seamless card use for our customers while traveling.”

Discover recently announced that the Zelle Person-to-Person (P2P) experience is now available on its mobile app and online account center, enabling its checking, savings and money market account customers to easily send and receive money with almost any bank account in the US.
