BBVA Compass, a US banking franchise, has introduced its digital wallet in the US that allows clients to monitor and safeguard their BBVA Compass credit and debit cards.
Available for free as an app from the App Store and Google Play, the BBVA Wallet offers clients a real-time view of card transactions and the ability to temporarily or permanently deactivate lost or stolen credit cards.
Using BBVA Wallet, the bank’s credit card holders can set up transaction alerts and change their PINs. Also, cardholders can also change the nickname assigned to a credit or debit card, activate a credit card and also temporarily block credit card activity by turning card on or off.
BBVA Wallet, which was first launched in Spain in 2013, has been rolled out to clients in Chile and Mexico earlier this spring.
BBVA Compass chief digital banking officer Jeff Dennes said that the BBVA Wallet comes as part of bank’s efforts to provide clients greater control of their finances and to make banking faster and easier.
"The service is home-grown and we own the code. There’s no waiting on a vendor to introduce functionality that is also being sold to our competitors," said Dennes.
