Cennox, a business-critical solutions provider, has introduced a new device to disinfect in-store point-of-sale (POS) terminals from the Covid-19 virus after each transaction.
Dubbed Cennox UVC Keypad Cleaner, the new device uses UVC light to eliminate the viruses present on the surface of the POS machines within 30 seconds.
The device is installed around the existing POS keypad. On closing, it covers the entire machine and flashes it with UVC light to neutralise the virus.
The solution is aimed at helping retailers to protect their customers and give them the confidence to shop, while they open for business.
Cennox CEO Nick Cockett said: “Many shoppers are going into supermarkets and retail stores under the false impression that a spray of bleach or alcohol solution will keep them safe, but research shows that these solutions can take up to 10 minutes to become effective.
“Retailers are having to put measures in place to adapt to the new store environment, but customers are going to need continued reassurance that the systems and processes retailers adopt give them the best chance of staying safe.
“While UVC is a tried, tested and proven solution, the application we have created is a unique, patented device at this crucial time for retailers when they need total confidence in the measures they put in place.”
The company claims that the Cennox device can fit top 10 POS machines and can be customized to fit alternative terminals as well.
