American Express (Amex) has expanded its mobile wallet portfolio with the addition of Samsung Pay to its Canadian cardholders.
The newly added service will be available for eligible Canadian consumer, small business and corporate cards issued by Amex Bank of Canada. It supports all latest Samsung Galaxy mobile devices.
The eligible cardholders can add American Express Card to Samsung Pay, via Samsung Galaxy Apps Store, for purchases at American Express accepting merchants.
“The addition of Samsung Pay marks another example of how American Express Canada is furthering its digital-first strategy,” the company said in its press note.
American Express’ intelligent security systems and fraud protection guarantee will approve the transactions with PIN, fingerprint or iris.
American Express Canada vice president of consumer cards Megan McKee said: “We know our Cardmembers love the speed and convenience of paying for purchases with a tap of their mobile device. That’s why we’re thrilled to add Samsung Pay to our digital payment portfolio. Now our Cardmembers have even greater flexibility and choice in how they choose to pay.”
Samsung Electronics Canada COO and executive vice president Paul Brannen added: “We’re excited to partner with American Express to help bring Samsung Pay to more Canadian consumers. Not only will this enhance our digital wallet, but it will also empower Amex Cardmembers with a seamless mobile payment solution that is designed for simplicity, security and convenience.”
