WEX, a provider of corporate payment solutions, has partnered with Citibank to become eligible to support US government card and payment services.
Citibank, which won one of two contracts for GSA SmartPay 3, has selected WEX to deliver its fleet card solution to provide a range of services and offerings to a number of government agencies.
GSA SmartPay 3, which will run through 2031, is expected to facilitate a potential $700bn in charge card and related payment transactions.
WEX senior vice president and general manager of North America large fleet and strategic relationships Bernie Kavanagh said: “Federal agencies deploy some of the largest fleets in the U.S. today, and we are proud of the opportunity to compete for continued work with these agencies to optimise their operations.
“Through our relationship with Citi, we’re looking forward to ensuring these agencies continue to have access to innovative card solutions that help them manage the daily operations of their fleets for years to come.”
WEX has deployed over 300,000 fleet cards to help six federal agencies better manage their fleet programmes. It holds contracts with more than 25 states and agencies at all levels of government.
“Each of those 300,000 cards represents a successful partnership with the federal government. We are pleased to be recognized as one of only a few companies with the expertise, scale, technology and relationships to support these large customers, and we are proud to continue a collaboration that has delivered value, innovation and cost savings to government agencies,” Kavanagh added.
