UnionPay International has teamed up with Bank of China Singapore Branch (BOCSG) to roll out the BOCSG e-wallet app, allowing its cardholders to make QR Code payments in Singapore.
After adding UnionPay credit cards to the app, users can transact using BOCSG e-wallet which has been jointly developed by UnionPay and BOCSG.
At the outset, the BOCSG e-wallet will support UnionPay credit cards followed by debit cards.
Additionally, UnionPay and BOCSG have partnered with Lianhe Zaobao to roll out the BOC Zaobao credit card and the BOC Zaobao debit card.
The BOC-Zaobao credit card will feature UnionPay’s QuickPass contactless technology. The new offering will enable cardholders to make contactless payments with a simple tap-and-go move at over 10 million merchants across the globe.
The BOC Zaobao credit card will also be compatible with the BOCSG e-wallet app, which will allow cardholders to make QR code for payments.
UnionPay International CEO Cai Jianbo said: “UnionPay QR Code payments have already been launched in Hong Kong and Macau.
“This time, we made another major breakthrough in Singapore, which not only demonstrates that UnionPay is accelerating the rollout of our QR Code payments worldwide, but also shows that innovation has become a significant impetus for the localized development of Chinese financial institutions that have gone abroad.”
Furthermore, UnionPay International also has inked an agreement with AsiaMalls Management to launch UnionPay QR Code payments across all six malls.
