Bangladesh-based Prime Bank has collaborated with Japan Credit Bureau (JCB) to launch a platinum credit card.
The JCB Platinum Credit Card will have no annual fee during the first year. Customers can continue to access the service free after the first year. However, this will only be available if they make a minimum of 20 transactions. Otherwise, the fee will be BDT5000 ($60).
This platinum credit card comes with a supplementary card for the immediate family members of the cardholder like spouse, parents and children.
The card will also give users free access to VIP lounges in airport globally.
Prime Bank managing director and CEO Rahel Ahmed was quoted by Dhaka Tribune as saying: “We have taken many initiatives to create a cashless society in our country. We launched this card as a part of these initiatives.
“JCB Co Ltd was established in 1961 as a pioneering credit card payment system for the people of Japan. From the very start, it was focused on providing new opportunities built on the emerging needs and aspirations of its customers.
“The Japanese are very cooperative. In the near future, we will launch a Japanese desk in our bank.”
Other benefits for the cardholders include various discount facilities, free accidental health insurance coverage of up to BDT1m ($11,939), free Priority pass club membership covering 1200+ lounges worldwide.
It will also offer cardholders unlimited free access at Balaka VIP lounge. Furthermore, customers will be able to get free protocol service at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Cardholders can also avail complementary buy-one-get-one dining facility at all the five-star hotels in Bangladesh.
According to the bank, 120 million JCB cards have already been issued in more than 20 countries.
