UK mobile operator Everything Everywhere (EE) is to launch a contactless mobile payments system for EE customers in a joint venture with MasterCard.
The Cash on Tap service will enable users to carry out transactions of £20 ($30) or less at over 230,000 UK stores that include Boots, McDonalds and Greggs.
From July 17, customers can download the free Cash on Tap app from the Google Play store.
The service is prepaid therefore customers will have to first pay into an account using a debit or credit card before they can make purchases.
As a promotional offer, EE will give customers £5 credit when they activate the app, and then another £5 when they add money for the first time.
The NFC service will be available on three Android devices; Samsung Galaxy S4, Sony Xperia SP and Samsung Galaxy S3.
