Focus POS, a provider of restaurant point of sale software, has partnered with Sterling Payment Technologies to offer an EMV solution to businesses in the hospitality industry.
The EMV solution also offers NFC and tokenization technologies, which will enable restaurants to accept payments from mobile wallets.
EMV became a necessity in the hospitality industry due to the liability shift that took place in October of 2015. This shift meant that any restaurant that wasn’t EMV compliant would be held accountable for certain fraudulent transactions processed by their system; utilizing the proper EMV technology protects businesses and customers from fraud.
Focus POS COO Mike Hamm said: "Transaction security has become increasingly important in the hospitality industry, and our partnership with Sterling Payment Technologies has helped us stay ahead of the competition. We don’t want our customers to have to worry about fraudulent transactions at the point of sale, and this EMV solution provides the reliability and security this industry needs."
Joe Gage, executive director IPOS Channel at Sterling, said: "We are excited to team up with Focus POS to deliver a comprehensive EMV solution. The payments landscape is constantly evolving, but our continued commitment to protecting customers has allowed us to provide robust and integrated payment solutions that can adapt to changes in the industry."
