Tech giant Google has decided to shut down its Google Wallet debit card to cull money-losing operations.
The debit card, which is linked to the user’s Google Wallet account balance, allow users to pay for things in person and online using the Wallet balance.
In a blog post, Google said that it will stop supporting the cards so they can focus on the new Google Wallet app, which enables users to instantly cash out with a debit card and send money using just the recipient’s phone number.
The company added that users can replace their wallet card with both American Express and Simple, which offers debit accounts with similar features including a card. Wallet Card users will also get an added bonus after signing up.
