JCB International has collaborated with Austria-based Service Bank to launch its payment platform, JCB Contactless, across the country.
As part of the arrangement, all terminals under the card complete network will support the contactless payment solution for JCB cards. Cardholders can tap their card or linked mobile to carry out payments.
More than 10,000 card complete merchants, including restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, museums and public transport, will be enabled for JCB Contactless.
Based on near field communication (NFC), JCB Contactless is designed for quick, simple yet secure transactions. The solution supports JCB contactless card and mobile device.
JCB International managing director Tsuyoshi Notani said: “As a global payment brand, we are very excited to announce this additional contactless payment solution to our growing customer base.
“With a large number of Asian visitors coming to Europe, this partnership will provide potential new profits and customer opportunities to card complete merchants across Austria.”

The Austria launch marks foray of JCB Contactless into Europe. The service is currently accepted by various merchants in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Philippines, Russia and Taiwan.
