MasterCard and PayPal have agreed to extend their PayPal Extras MasterCard co-branded consumer credit card programme in the US and Puerto Rico.
The PayPal Extras card offers PayPal members extra value in every purchase, both online and in stores, including buyer protection for every purchase made through PayPal.
Featuring EMV chip technology, the PayPal Extras card offers priceless rewards to cardholders.
They can now earn triple reward points for gas and restaurant purchases, double reward points for PayPal and eBay purchases, and one reward point for every $1 spent everywhere else MasterCard is accepted.
MasterCard president of North America Craig Vosburg said: “We are proud to continue our long-standing relationship with PayPal through this programme.
“In this increasingly digital world, we are providing PayPal cardholders with the most advanced and secure technologies, giving them the core guarantees and benefits they’ve come to expect from MasterCard, regardless of how and where they pay.”
PayPal senior vice president of Americas Gary Marino said: “PayPal looks forward to building on our longstanding relationship with MasterCard to deliver continued value and choice to our customers with the PayPal Extras MasterCard.
“MasterCard has been a tremendous partner for several years, and we are pleased to extend this agreement.”
The PayPal Extra’s MasterCard is issued by Synchrony Bank, which renewed its agreement with PayPal in 2015.
