Parabit Systems, a US-based manufacturer and systems integrator, has announced that it is now offering Multi-Media Reader (MMR) to safeguard ATM lobbies.
Designed to interact with near field communication (NFC), MMR will work with contactless EMV cards, mobile devices (smartphones and wearable tech), as well as magnetic stripe cards.
In August, the company commenced the production of MMR, which is integrated with its ACS-1E ATM Lobby-Foyer-Vestibule Access Control/Remote Facility Management System.
MMR will support iPhone 6 and up, Android Phones and Wearable Tech with NFC, contactless EMV debit/credit cards and magnetic stripe cards.
Parabit said that the MMR does not interface/interact at the application level on smartphones or wearable tech – it only interfaces or interacts at the pre-activation levels.
The technology will offer customer access control mobile facility that will detect a Skimming Device installed on or around the MMR Reader.
Parabit’ SkimGard, which is Dual Skimmer Detection technology, detects card reader tampering, cable-cut and installation of overlays.
With the technology, customers will no longer require their debit card to enter the ATM lobbies; instead they can use their phone.
