South Korea’s Penta Security has released new biometrics-enabled cryptocurrency hardware wallets designed for enhanced security with both PIN and biometric authentication features.
The move is intended to provide an alternative for existing wallets which are believed to be more vulnerable to attacks or theft.
Available in card and device variants, the new cryptocurrency wallets can be used with nearly all existing cryptocurrencies.
The card type will include advanced secure key storage along with various authentication features such as one-time-password (OTP). It can be used with Penta Security’s wallet management mobile application to support authentication security during the entire management and transaction process.
Meanwhile, the device will come with a display and secure cryptocurrency environment, and is designed for the complete process, including generation and transaction.
Penta Security intends to offer different versions of the device in order to cater to diverse user base.
Penta Security Systems chief strategy officer DS Kim said: “Penta Security’s cryptocurrency wallet is a comprehensive solution designed by a company that has had decades of security experience and research.
“It’s not only designed for cryptocurrency transactions, but also to meet current and future blockchain protocol security standards.”
