Fintech company Prepaid Financial Services (PFS) has partnered with Garmin Pay to enable contactless payments using its cards in the UK.
As part of the alliance, Garmin smartwatch devices will support the cards issued and managed by PFS, eliminating the need to carry cash, physical card or mobile phones for payment.
PFS’ portfolio includes a wide variety of cards, including consumer, virtual, multi-currency, instant issue and gift/incentive cards. The fintech also offers e-vouchers.
PFS head of operations & client relations Valerie Moran said: “We enjoyed partnering with Garmin to bring a lifestyle FinTech offering to PFS card programme users across the UK.
“This solution is truly the digital wallet you wear on your wrist with convenience at every turn to ensure great user experiences with each purchase made.”
Garmin Pay is a contactless payment solution enabled through watches. It supports major credit and debit cards, including Visa and MasterCard.
Card details can be added to the virtual wallet that is accessible through the Garmin watches.
The payment service uses watch-specific card numbers and transaction codes for all purchases. Card number is not stored on the watch, on the company’s servers or passed to merchants during transaction.
Garmin head of product, partnerships & portfolio Theo Axford said: “For those that live a busy and active lifestyle, the ability to make purchases on the go is crucial to smartwatch users. We are therefore excited to partner with PFS and expand our partnerships with e-payment vendors.”
