US-based Republic Bank has added Samsung Pay support for its clients to make mobile payments using their credit and debit cards.
The lender, which has already provided Apple Pay access to its clients, believes that Samsung Pay will allow them to carry out shopping in a single touch using compatible Samsung devices.
Republic Bank said that the actual card numbers are not stored on the device to provide optimum security during transactions. Instead, the Samsung mobile payment solution creates a unique and temporary credit card using tokenisation for each transaction.
Additionally, Samsung Pay eliminates the need for retailers to see customer names, card numbers or card security codes.
Republic Bank senior vice president of marketing Michael Sadofsky said: “We continually look for innovative approaches to make the lives of our clients easier.
“We are excited to offer Samsung Pay as an easy, secure payment solution that allows our clients to bank when, where and how they want.”
