UnionPay International, a wholly owned subsidiary of China UnionPay, has launched mobile payment service in Korea.
UnionPay International has signed a partnership agreement with Shilla Duty Free Shop, a duty free store in Korea, under which the shop has introduced the UnionPay card cross-border mobile payment service.
Cardholders can purchase Korean goods after downloading the Shilla Duty Free Shop app on their mobile phones and pay with UnionPay cards.
Customers can make payments by verifying necessary information such as the card number and mobile number.
UnionPay said that multiple safety technical support and real-time risk monitoring will ensure security of both internet and mobile payments.
"UnionPay International will continue to expand its cooperative scope with Korean merchants and include more well-known merchants into the range of creative payment, to enable cardholders enjoy convenient payment experience through internet and mobile terminals," UnionPay said in a statement.
