UnionPay International and South Korea’s T-Money have signed an agreement that will enable China mobile users to pay for their transportation by tapping their mobile phones instead of T-Money card.
Customers can use UnionPay cards to top up online or get the balance, which helps save the troubles of buying, topping up and returning T-money cards.
As the transportation card for all the metros, buses and taxis in South Korea, T-money card also offers transference discounts.
UnionPay International and T-money jointly launched mobile payment service in December 2015, which was initially available to China Mobile users with COS chip mobile phones.
Currently, all China mobile users with NFC-enabled Android mobile phones can avail this service.
In order to avail the new service, China Mobile user may open the Hebao app and download UnionPay T-Money in the UnionPay Zone after making sure that their mobile phone and USIM card both support NFC payment.
After filling in their UnionPay card information and topping up UnionPay T-Money, the users are able to pay with the mobile phone. The account balance will be returned to the user's UnionPay card. In the future, this service will also be launched by other communication operators in China.
