US Bancorp has added mobile transaction capabilities to its Corporate Travel Card, offering pay-on-the-go service to its business clients in the country.
Members of these Mastercard commercial travel cards will now be able to make secure corporate payments through their mobile phones.
US Bank says that such transactions provide additional security as they are connected to users as well as their device through the tokenisation technology.
Tokenisation involves replacement of the sensitive payment information such as card account number with a proxy, thereby minimising the risk for fraud.
US Bank Global Bankcard general manager Jeff Rankin said: “Our clients who have adopted mobile commercial payments are responding with great enthusiasm to its use for business travel.
“At the same time, the number of hotels, airlines and other merchants accepting contactless payments via mobile phones is climbing.
“These trends are making the on-the-road payment experience increasingly easier and more secure. We’re delighted to partner with Mastercard to help advance that vision.”
Mastercard executive vice-president of North America Account Management Ed Glassman said: “Consumers expect to have multiple ways to pay including cards, phones and other mobile devices. It makes sense to bring these same options to the world of commercial cards.
“Mastercard is pleased to join forces with U.S. Bank to make life a little easier and more secure for business travellers.”
