Visa has partnered with New York Fashion Week (NFYW) to enable innovative payments through contactless cards.
The partnership makes Visa the official payment technology partner of NYFW.
As per the agreement, Visa will offer contactless payments support at retail vending machines. These will feature products from various designers such as Rebecca Minkoff, Venessa Arizaga and Neely & Chloe.
Visa senior vice-president for North America marketing Mary Ann Reilly said: “We are constantly exploring sponsorship opportunities to help us diversify our brand and reach new audiences, while delivering experiences that drive business priorities.
“We are excited to work closely with this property to bring our vision for a contactless payments future to life.”
IMG Fashion executive vice-president of fashion partnerships and marketing Leslie Russo said: “Our partnership with Visa is only the beginning, and we are excited to bring together both our brands’ expertise to shape the future of commerce and fashion.”
Visa contactless is a winner
Earlier this year, Visa reported increased contactless payments during the FIFA World Cup 2018 held in Russia.
Cashless payments were the highlight of transactions throughout the tournament. Visa cardholders spent an average of RUB1,408 ($23) per transaction inside the stadiums.
Apart from Visa contactless cards, fans also used other payment options such as wearables for in-stadium merchandise.
