Visa has announced its partnership with DragonPass, a digital airport platform, to bring enhanced experiences for cardholders at airports.
The new ‘Airport Companion Programme’ is now accessible to financial institutions across Europe. Whenever an institution signs up for the programme, their cardholders will be able to access a number of exclusive services and discounts offered by DragonPass.
Financial institutions can also add other features such as transportation, spa, fast track and digital coupons for free meals or beverages. The Programme enables cardholders to manage their membership through their banking app allowing them to make payments and receive recommendations.
DragonPass offers travellers the ability to access over 1000 airport lounges, find restaurant discounts, use airport limousines and access Meet & Greet concierge services.
According to Visa, in 2016 over two billion people passed through Europe’s airports. The global duty-free industry is expected to grow to approximately $67bn by 2020 from an estimated $45.7bn in 2016.
Mike Lemberger, senior vice president, products and solutions at Visa in Europe, stated: “We are constantly looking for new ways to add value for Visa cardholders, whilst simultaneously supporting the commercial interests of our clients.
“Our new partnership with DragonPass is an excellent example of delivering a valued service globally to differentiate our offering and utilising mutual assets in doing so. We know Visa cardholders regularly travel through airports and this new partnership will provide consumers in Europe with a one-stop shop of exclusive benefits to enhance their travel experience worldwide.”
Andrew Harrison Chinn, global managing director for DragonPass, added: “We are delighted to team up with Visa to provide an innovative set of travel solutions designed to give more value back to Visa customers through enriched Visa payment propositions.
“Our approach and services are always designed at simplistically linking an often complex and multifaceted airport ecosystem to provide the customer with a more enjoyable travel experience.”
The DragonPass offering is powered by the Visa Developer Platform harnessing Visa APIs to provide efficient and seamless account verification, making it easier for banks to bring the service into their own apps and offer more tailored services to their customer base.
