German payments firm Wirecard has added Aevi International’s Android-based mobile payment tablet, dubbed Albert, to its range of mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) products.
As part of the move, Wirecard will offer payment and acquiring services for Aevi’s Albert tablet.
Multichannel POS terminal Albert features an integrated card reader and receipt printer and a module to encrypt touchscreen PIN entry.
It also features a range of wireless technologies such as NFC, 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
Wirecard said that the mPOS is targeted at industries including retail, restaurants, and hotels. Retailers can use the app to centralise their back office processes, run their loyalty programmes and handle multichannel stock management.
Wirecard executive vice president of mobile services Jorn Leogrande said: "AEVI’s multichannel POS terminal supports our objective of using the latest technologies and products in order to support our customers and partners with the digitisation of their business processes.
"We found the multitude of possibilities offered by the terminal to be particularly appealing. For example, we can integrate our own payment and loyalty apps in addition to further applications available via our network of partners."
AEVI global sales and marketing director Hans Langenhuizen said: "Albert is more than just a payment terminal. The apps in our new marketplace, which we will be presenting at the Money20/20 trade fair, are what makes the product unique. Transactions become interactions. The possibilities are endless."
