San Francisco city guide
The fog that envelopes San Francisco during the summer months means that autumn and spring are the best times to visit the city, especially in September and October, when temperatures average around 20°.
Winter is generally the only time that San Francisco experiences rain, but it’s always best to bring a selection of clothing, as the city’s location means that it can often turn unexpectedly chilly.
San Franciscans have been called many things over the years: diverse, unconventional and liberal to name a few.
One thing that all people agree on, however, is that San Franciscans are unashamedly friendly people who will go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Don’t be surprised to find random strangers introducing themselves to you on the street.
San Franciscans usually dress very casually.
Despite the city being a trend setter when it comes to fashion, your average resident won’t get too dressed up, unless they’re going to the upmarket restaurants and clubs. You’ll stand out as a tourist if you forget to bring a jumper; remember the fog can bring a chill to the city!
