Leumi Card, a credit card subsidiary of Israel-based Bank Leumi, is set to launch a mobile security product featuring SecuredTouch’s behavioural biometric technology.
SecuredTouch's technology will enable Leumi Card to identify users based on their unique personal usage profiles within their mobile devices, by checking attributes such as finger size, touch pressure and touch surface.
By verifying the profile, Leumi Card will be able to recognise, in real time, whether the card owner is the one operating the app. Besides the initial login stage, the solution's identity verification continuously scrutinises every in-app activity.
Leumi Card executive vice president for development and strategy Ohad Maimon said: “This is an international breakthrough that enhances user experience while solving the known problem of poor conversion in financial apps, due to the need for complex passwords.
“Integrating the technology in Leumi Card's mobile app is aligned with regulators’ directives for digital banking communications that require two factors of authentication.”
The technology, which has successfully passed a comprehensive experimental and testing phase, will be made available to customers over the next few months, Leumi Card said.
