American Express (Amex) has introduced its contactless mobile payment solution, Amex Pay, in Canada that allows cardholders to make payments using their eligible Android devices.
The new contactless payments service is available through the Amex app for eligible consumer, small business and corporate cards issued by Amex Bank of Canada.
American Express Canada vice president for consumer acquisition and management Suat Alaybeyoglu said: “The launch of Amex Pay is another example of our commitment to innovation and providing our card-members with more ways to use their cards.
“Card-members can shop with ease using their mobile devices, while continuing to experience the service they've come to expect from American Express."
In order to put increased focus on the Amex app, the company is also offering more options to pay with an Amex card using a mobile device.
Amex has said that its intelligent security systems can detect fraud by spotting something unusual in a card-member's spending pattern, while its fraud protection guarantee allows cardholders to shop with confidence.
Additionally, the cardholders can redeem membership rewards points for eligible travel and everyday purchases charged to the card- right from the app. They can manage accounts with customisable features such as payment due and statement ready alerts.
