Barclaycard has rolled out payments app to enable clients to make contactless payments using their Android smartphones.
Based on Host Card Emulation (HCE) technology, the app will enable users to make ‘touch and go’ payments at over 300,000 locations in the UK, as well as across the London transport network.
The transaction value has been restricted to £30, while adding a PIN on their mobile device will increase transaction value to £100.
Additionally, the contactless mobile payment app will allow customers to replace their lost and stolen cards with a virtual card, which can be downloaded onto the app.
The contactless payment platform also works for non-Barclays customers allowing them to link their debit or credit cards to a key fob, stickers and wristbands.
