American Express (Amex) has extended its support for Google’s mobile wallet Android Pay in Canada, allowing its cardholders to transact using digital wallet anywhere contactless payments are accepted including in-apps or in-stores.
Currently, Android Pay is available for eligible Canadian consumer, small business and corporate cards issued by Amex Bank of Canada.
Amex has added new features such as use points for purchases, push notifications and touch ID to its Amex Mobile App, which make it easier than ever to pay for purchases on the go.
Android Pay does not share credit or debit card number with the merchant when consumers pay in stores. Instead, it uses a virtual account number to represent the card.
American Express Canada vice president of consumer cards Megan McKee said: “At American Express, we’re committed to offering fast and easy ways for our Cardmembers to make purchases.
“Whether they’re shopping in-stores or in-apps, our Cardmembers now have the option to use Android Pay while continuing to receive all the benefits and rewards from Amex.”
