MasterCard Developers has introduced new application programme interfaces (APIs) to provide financial institutions, merchants and digital solutions providers with the required tools to accept digital payments on new platforms.
Through its API platform, the US-based payment technology company is giving access to over 40 proprietary payments, data and security products and services for easy integration into digital solutions.
In the US, the Masterpass Chatbot API is being used by FreshDirect, Subway and The Cheesecake Factory to develop payment-enabling chat bots on Facebook Messenger. The payroll services powered by MasterCard Send APIs will enable Uber and Lyft drivers to collect their payment in near real time.
Additionally, UK gastro pub chain Young’s Pubs is implementing the Qkr! with Masterpass that will enable diners to pay for food, start a tab and split their bill without waiting in a queue or for a restaurant server.
Furthermore, MasterCard has introduced the New & Experimental API category within the MasterCard Developers platform that empowers partners test the newest payment technologies and applications as they arrive.
MasterCard senior vice president for API Oran Cummins said: “We’re focused on making it simple for our partners to create enhanced payments experiences without having to reinvent the wheel.
“By giving them the access they need to explore and build new technologies, we can scale our solutions with greater speed.”
