Visa has teamed up with online payment provider Direct Pay Online Group (DPO) to empower nearly 20,000 merchants in Kenya with mVisa payments.
The collaboration allows customers to use Visa’s mobile payment solution at airlines, hotels, travel agents and tour operators across the country.
Backed by Visa’s global payment network, mVisa is a mobile payment solution enables users to pay merchants or send money to friends and family directly from their bank account via their mobile banking app.
mVisa also provides merchants of all sizes a cost-effective and secure way to accept digital payments.
At the POS terminal, users of mVisa can pay for the goods and services by just scanning a QR code from the app using their smartphone or by entering a merchant number into a feature phone.
The payment is directly debited from the consumer’s bank account into the merchant’s account while giving real-time notification to both parties.
