Indian digital payment company PhonePe has introduced a new chat feature on the app.
The new feature will enable users to request funds and confirm the receipt of a payment through the app. It also displays the transaction history of the user in the chat flow.
The PhonePe chat is available on the iOS and Android versions of the app.
PhonePe co-founder and CTO Rahul Chari said: “PhonePe chat makes it really easy for our users to send money to their contacts while having a conversation.
“A user’s transaction history on the PhonePe app is displayed in the chat flow, making it a highly engaging experience.”
In the following weeks, the feature will be upgraded to include group chats, Chari added. The introduction of group chats will allow users to request and receive money from friends and family.
According to the company, the PhonePe chat feature has been rolled out to more than 185 million PhonePe users.
Founded in December 2015, PhonePe allows users to make their all forms of digital payments such as utility bills, mobile recharge, sending money among others.
Users can link their bank account with the app to send payments directly without adding it to the e-wallet.
In 2016, the digital payment company was acquired by e-commerce firm Flipkart.
