MasterCard has introduced a new mobile commerce application in Singapore that will allow users to make mobile payments for fees, uniforms and other educational supplies.
Developed in Mastercard Labs, Qkr! with Masterpass for schools, will enable users to seamlessly order and pay for goods and services via their smartphones.
Qkr uses MasterCard’s digital wallet solution Masterpass to accelerate the checkout process without requiring financial and shipping information at every new merchant site. Masterpass accepts all credit cards.
MasterCard Digital Payments and Labs chief commercial officer for commerce platform Betty DeVita said: “Over the past decade, MasterCard has pioneered mobile commerce – including the world’s first contactless and mobile transmittance solutions – making lives easier for consumers around the globe.
“With the launch of Qkr, we are aligning with Singapore’s Smart Nation Agenda and using technology and innovation to make commerce and payments easier for consumers and institutions including the department of education and schools themselves.”
The application was first launched in Australia.
