Oberthur Technologies (OT) has collaborated with Swiss watchmaker Swatch, to provide contactless payments to customers in Brazil.
Swatch customers will be able to pay with speed, security and convenience, by just tapping their Swatch Bellamy watch near the contactless terminals equipped with NFC technology.
OT is offering its secure element FlyBuySE – NFC chip embedded in the watch – and the personalization of the product credit card data.
OT’s FlyBuySE is fully integrated within Swatch Bellamy watches and delivers an optimum level of security while enabling contactless payments and transactions.
Upon purchasing the Bellamy Swatch, the consumers automatically receive an account and an associated debit card with Brazil Pré Pagos.
In order to activate it, owners just require to enter their data in the bank’s website and credit the account following the rules defined by the bank, after that the fund is available to make contactless transactions.
OT managing director of the financial services institutions business Eric Duforest said: “Partnering with a brand as well known as Swatch to launch this innovative product is strategic for OT.
“As the acceptance of contactless payment grows, more and more end-users are looking for this type of wearable so that they can pay quickly and safely.”
