Samsung Malaysia Electronics has partnered with several banks to launch its payment solution, Samsung Pay, in Malaysia.
The payment solution will be supported by CIMB, Citibank, Standard Chartered and Maybank. Hong Leong Bank is expected to support the platform soon.
Samsung Pay also supports loyalty cards, including B Infinite, Bonuslink and Sunway Pals in Malaysia, and is expected to be supported by more loyalty brands in the coming months, the company added.
The platform is currently available for various smartphones, including Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, S6 edge+, Note5, Galaxy A5 (2017 and 2016) and A7 (2017 and 2016).
Samsung Malaysia Electronics vice president of the mobile and IT business unit Lee Jui Siang said: “As Samsung has done with other markets, we have taken a customized approach to our launch in Malaysia, collaborating with key partners to turn swift and secure mobile payments into reality for our users.
“We are proud to call leading financial institutions and merchants our partners and to introduce Samsung Pay as the most widely accepted mobile payment service in Malaysia.”
Samsung Pay was recently launched in Australia, Singapore and Thailand.
