Shift4 Payments, a payment processing solutions provider, has decided to waive off charges on digital payments to alleviate the burden on customers caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
For the next three months, the firm will forgo fees on online ordering and payment through the firm’s SkyTab mobile ordering and pay-at-the-table solution.
It will also waive off SkyTab monthly data fees or overage charges.
SkyTab can collect email addresses, enabling restaurateurs to contact their clients.
At the same time, the firm will also waive off gift card fees as an increasing number of merchants tap gift card sales to boost revenue amid the volatile market conditions.
The firm will implement the measures immediately.
The move has been initiated following the recent rise in takeout and delivery services as people limited dine-in service following the outbreak.
The firm Shift4 also opened a hotline and created a webpage to support customers on issues associated with the pandemic.
Shift4 Payments CEO Jared Isaacman said: “We understand the difficulties facing the entire Shift4 family and we are here to do what we can to help. Restaurants and hospitality businesses have been especially hard hit by this situation, so many of the fees we have waived focus on the unique challenges facing these businesses.”
The Covid-19 outbreak has claimed over 7,100 lives worldwide so far. The total number of confirmed cases has surpassed 182,000.
