PayPal-owned mobile payments app Venmo has opened up its in-app payments feature, which the company had been testing for about six months, to all its users.
The new feature will allow its clients to conduct transactions and share the bill on the apps of participating stores, Venmo said in a blog post.
“With this special feature, we’re making it easier than ever to speed through checkout, split and settle the bill instantly and share the experience with your friends,” the company said.
At launch 11 apps will support the feature. They are: Munchery, Gametime, Priv, Poshmark, Hop Market, Wish, Parking Panda, Dolly, Urgentli, Boxed and delivery.com.
The company added that it intends to add more retailers going forward.
PayPal’s payments processing arm Braintree acquired Venmo in 2012 for more than $26m. PayPal's then parent organization, eBay, acquired Braintree for $800m in 2013.
