Visa has reported a net income of $1.9bn for the fourth quarter ended 30 September 2016, up by 28% compared to $1.5bn a year ago.
Net operating revenue for the quarter rose 19% year-on-year to $4.3bn.
The company attributed increased earnings to the growth in payments volume and processed transactions and recent takeover of sister company Visa Europe.
For the three months ended 30 September 2016, payments volume growth, including Visa Europe and on a constant dollar basis, grew by 47% over the prior year to $1.9 trillion. Cross-border volume growth, including Visa Europe and on a constant dollar basis, was 149%.
Total processed transactions, which comprises transactions processed by Visa (including Visa Europe), surged by 41% to 25.9 billion compared to the same period last year.
Total operating expenses stood at $1.6bn, an increase of more than 27% from the year ago quarter.
