German fintech Wirecard has partnered with HERE Mobility to develop integrated B2B2C payment and mobility services.
A unit of HERE Technologies, HERE Mobility is an open marketplace for transportation services connecting around two million vehicles.
Under the agreement, the two companies agreed to team up on multiple projects that include exploring predictive mobility services.
As part of the initiative, Wirecard’s digital banking and payment app boon.PLANET will be integrated with HERE Mobility’s Marketplace.
It will enable boon.PLANET users to book and pay for rides through HERE Mobility Marketplace within the boon.PLANET app.
Additionally, Wirecard platform can process customers’ geolocation and mobility profiles to offer value added services.
Both the companies also agreed to work on solutions for merchants in travel and leisure industry and expand the scope of the collaboration to add Wirecard as payment service provider for HERE Mobility.
HERE Mobility SVP and head of Mobility Liad Itzhak said: “We are excited to enter into a strategic alliance with Wirecard and benefit from the digital payment expertise they bring to the table.
“Combined with our smart mobility solutions, we see our joint projects with Wirecard as having an enormous potential to revolutionise mobility services on a global scale.”
Wirecard vice-president for Strategic Alliances Michael Santner said: “As mobility services become a part of consumers’ daily lives, and the personal vehicle takes the back seat, we find it essential to be at the forefront of this mobility revolution.
“Both Wirecard and HERE Mobility will bring the best of their platforms to this cooperation, and we look forward to launching new and exciting projects.”
Notably, Wirecard signed an agreement with automobile manufacturer Rinspeed earlier this month to serve as the payment partner. The German fintech will work on a project that involves equipping next generation autonomous vehicles with payment capabilities.
