UK-based Worldpay has received a licence to process payments in Australia.
The development comes at a time of sustained growth for the company, which processed 13.1 billion transactions in 2015 with transaction value of £401.9bn.
Worldpay said that it is ideally situated to help merchants in Australia capitalise on opportunities presented by a market. Ecommerce in Australia accounted for $42bn of the country’s GDP in 2015.
The company has partnered wtih merchants, including ASOS, Expedia, Cathay Pacific Airlines, Digital World International and Freelancer.
