The value marked a decrease of 35.6% over the previous quarter and a drop of 70% when compared with the last four-quarter average of $22.51bn.
India held a 1% share of the global industry M&A deal value that totalled $697.02bn in Q2 2019.
In terms of deal activity, India recorded 184 deals during Q2 2019, marking a drop of 19.3% over the previous quarter and a drop of 8.5% over the last four-quarter average.
India industry M&A deals in Q2 2019: Top deals
The top five industry M&A deals accounted for 46.04% of the overall value during Q2 2019.
The combined value of the top five industry M&A deals stood at $3.11bn, against the overall value of $6.75bn recorded for the quarter. The top announced industry M&A deal tracked by GlobalData in Q2 2019 was India Grid Trust’s $717.57m asset transaction with Sterlite Power Transmission.
In second place was the $689.76m asset transaction with IL&FS Wind Energy by GAIL (India) and in third place was Adani Power’s $689.09m asset transaction with Axis Bank and GMR Generation Assets.
The $544.78m acquisition of Sterlite Grid 2 by Sterlite Investment Managers and merger of Indiabulls Housing Finance and The Lakshmi Vilas Bank for $466.2m held fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
