Bibby Financial Services (BFS) have appointed a managing director for export finance.
Joining BFS from Yorkshire Bank in 2011, Jim Davis held the role of head of sales for the West Midlands since 2013 and played a key role in the opening of BFS’s West Midlands Business Centre in 2014.
In his career Davis has also worked as a business development manager at HSBC, and beginning his career at BFS also as a business development manager.
Davis said: “While exporting presents fantastic opportunities for businesses to grow, international trade brings with it challenges relating to extended payment terms and complexities surrounding selling goods overseas.
“Our export finance team help SMEs to overcome these challenges, providing certainty of payment, upfront payment against overseas invoices and access to a team of export specialists.
“With the UK’s departure from the EU on the horizon, more than ever, SMEs need expert support. In addition to providing valuable support for existing exporters, we want to be able to help those businesses new to international trade to uncover growth opportunities overseas. I look forward to supporting the growth of thousands of UK SMEs in my new role.”
Kash Ahmad, managing director of specialist products at BFS, said: “Throughout his time with BFS, Jim has put both clients and colleagues at the heart of his leadership, and this has led to fantastic results, time and time again.
“I’m fully confident that Jim will continue this trend in his new role, helping to further enhance the support we provide to SMEs trading overseas.”
In October, Bibby Financial Services appointed a head of sales as it looks to develop SME lending in the south of England.
Joe Waters most recently served as director at Partnership Invoice Finance, and was also a founding director at Gener8 Finance. He also held a number of roles at PwC, including client services manager.
