Hypo Alpe Adria Leasing has a new general
manager for its Bulgarian operation. Bernd Achatz has taken the
role in place of Horst Ebhart who will meet new challenges in the
Eastern and South Eastern European sector.
Geoff Dunning has been appointed chief
executive of the Road Haulage Association (RHA). He has been the
RHA’s northern regional director since 1987, and prior to that he
spent many years in the retail motor trade. He will take up his
appointment in spring 2009 when the current chief executive, Roger
Law firm Shoosmiths has announced plans to
open a new office in Manchester. The expansion is being driven by
the recruitment of key Manchester-based mortgage finance
specialists from HL Interactive LLP and a receivables finance
specialist from DLA Piper. The firm is also launching a new
receivables finance litigation and recoveries service with the
recruitment of DLA Piper legal director Harold Brako.
Mike Fairey, former deputy chief executive
of Lloyds TSB, has joined Salans as a consultant. Fairey held his
previous post from 1998 until June 2008. He is a director of
business in the community and also president and chairman of the
British Quality Foundation, as well as former governor of both the
European Foundation for Quality Management and the CBI Financial
At the same time, Todd Culyba has joined
as a partner based in the firm’s Moscow office. He specialises in
mergers and acquisitions and has extensive experience acting for
sellers and buyers in complex Russian and cross-border
transactions. He also advises clients on joint ventures and
Bibby Financial Services has appointed
Paul Tappin as product manager for its specialist Trade Services
division. Prior to joining the company, he was associate director
of trade finance at the Royal Bank of Scotland and also worked for
Davenham Group as regional director for trade finance. At the same
time, Graham Cooper has been promoted by the company to sales
director for the Yorkshire and North East region.
FINANCE & LEASING ASSOCIATION
The FLA has appointed Russell
Hamblin-Boone to the new position of head of communications.
Previously he was deputy to the chief executive at the Energy
Retail Association (ERA) where he was instrumental in setting up
the association as a lobbying body in 2003. His position at the ERA
will not be filled, but Frances Williamson is to be promoted as
head of stakeholder relations.
Alison Campbell has joined Corporate
Recruitment Solutions as asset finance consultant. She joins with
industry experience gained from Alliance & Leicester Commercial
Finance, where she undertook a business development role.
Michael Wolf, a familiar figure for many
European lessors in his role of chief executive of Intrum Justitia,
one of Europe’s largest credit management services, will take up a
new position as chief executive officer of Swedbank on 1 March
2009. He replaces Jan Liden who will remain at the bank until his
contract runs out in April 2009. Intrum Justitia is a subsidiary of
Leaseurope has appointed Richard Knubben
of the Netherlands as adviser in automotive affairs. He will be in
charge of issue such as environmental taxation, truck rental market
liberalisation, cross-border road safety enforcement, block
exemption regulation and
DE LAGE LANDEN
Alexander d’Huc has joined De Lage Landen
as regional chief commercial officer for the Central and Eastern
Europe (CEE) region. He comes with some 20 years’ experience in the
leasing and rental markets including starting up operations for
Scania Leasing in various CEE countries. Most recently d’Huc was
managing director of a German truck and trailer rental company.
At the same time, Emiel van Onzenoort has
been appointed regional chief financial officer for the CEE region.
He will combine his role of CFO with the position of country
service unit manager Hungary, which will become effective at the
same date. He will be based in Budapest.
BRITISH VEHICLE RENTAL AND LEASING
David Alexander has taken the role at the
BVRLA of chairman of its Rental Committee. Alexander is operations
director at Europcar and he takes over the BVRLA post from Brice
Adamson of Enterprise Rent a Car.
