positive trend in February, while coaches and minibuses continued
to decline, according to figures from the Society of Motor
Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
big bus demand has helped the bus sector, which recorded 28.6
percent increase for the rolling year. However, bus registrations
were 19.9 percent down compared to the same period one year
Among the other sectors, minibuses up to 3.5t had the highest
drop, declining almost 70 percent for the rolling year. Coaches
declined 23.2 percent on a rolling-year basis.
The SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt said: “February is always
very slow for coaches because by tradition operators wait for
Easter for new vehicles and the new number plate in March
reinforces that trend. Overall, though the outlook is steady, we
cannot take anything for granted and remain very cautious.”
