American International Group (AIG) has appointed Catherine Duffy as the new country manager of its Bermuda business.
The firm has not yet decided on the date on which Duffy will assume the new responsibility.
Duffy will now manage AIG Bermuda, working alongside product leadership to drive innovation for customers and distribution partners.
At the same time, she will also be the insurer’s principal liaison with the Bermuda Monetary Authority, the region’s financial services watchdog, as well as other stakeholders in the region.
Duffy most recently served as the senior vice president and underwriting manager at XL Bermuda.
Her insurance career of around three decades also includes stints as the senior vice president of excess liability at Torus Insurance Bermuda and vice President of underwriting at XL Insurance (Bermuda).
In the new role, Duffy will report to AIG CEO of North America general insurance Lex Baugh.
“I am pleased to welcome Catherine to AIG as part of our commitment to delivering differentiated solutions to clients and distribution partners in Bermuda. Catherine’s deep knowledge of Bermuda will be of great value as we position AIG for growth in this important insurance market,” Baugh noted.
AIG offers property casualty insurance, life insurance, retirement products, as well as other financial services. The firm was set up in 1919.
