AIG Life has added a virtual care service, Smart Health, to all of its individual and group protection offerings.
The online tool willl give all members unlimited, tailored support on demanded. In addition, it comes at no extra cost via smartphones, tablets and PCs. The virtual care service also allows AIG customers to manage general non-critical physical and mental health needs, as well as chronic complex care.
Teladoc Health will provide the service. It already provides the Best Doctors second opinion service to AIG Life’s individual customers.
Sue Helmont, marketing director at AIG Life, said: “AIG celebrates its 100th birthday this year. We wanted to ‘pay it forward’ to the one million people we already look after as well as new customers, so everybody has an opportunity to easily manage their health and wellbeing and live a long and healthy life.
“Our unlimited access to Smart Health is for everyone, no matter when they became insured by us or through which distribution channel it was bought. And because we believe in investing in our own team, we’ve given all AIG Life employees access to the service too.”
Nick Erskine, head of intermediary sales at AIG Life, said:“We know the value of Best Doctors for our individual protection customers and the positive impact that access to a specialist can have on the outcome of a diagnosis or a change in treatment.What AIG now offers is a service that makes their insurance valuable every single day.”
Customers can book 30 minute appointment to speak to a GMC-registered UK-based GP at any time and from anywhere. Through the Smart Health app, customers can also receive medical advice, a private prescription or a private referral.
Individuals can also receive help from the AIG virtual care app in the form of:
- Have their medical case reviewed by experts;
- Speak to someone regarding mental health support;
- Build a fitness programme;
- Get specialist nutritional advice and build meal plans, and
- Receive an online health check.
Lee Lovett, Group Protection Managing Director at AIG Life,said: “The addition of Smart Health to our full range of Group Protection products is a game changer both for our industry and for employers. Providing 24-hour access to a private GP for all of the employees we insure is unique in the Group market and should make a real difference to our customers on a day-to-day basis.
“Not only is it convenient and easy for the employee’s whole family to use, it could also be a strong recruitment and retention tool for employers. It should also help to reduce absenteeism due to illness or delays in arranging medical appointments and increase positive sentiment towards employers who demonstrate they care about their employees’ wellbeing,”
