German insurer Allianz has appointed Bart Schlatmann as the new CEO of its European direct business.
In the new role, Schlatmann will be responsible for heading the consolidation of Allianz’s direct business in Europe.
The process includes the launch of a new pan-European risk carrier for the firm’s direct businesses, beginning from the direct businesses in Germany (AllSecur DE), the Netherlands (AllSecur NL), Italy (Genialloyd) as well as Spain (Fenix Directo).
“I am looking forward to contributing my experience of reshaping organisational structures in the European direct business to empower our employees, to boost productivity and adapt the organisation to the changing needs of our customers,” Schlatmann said.
Schlatmann most recently was the chief transformation officer at Russian lender Sberbank.
He also spent 22 years at the ING Group. This includes a 10-year stint as the COO of ING Netherlands.
Schlatmann will assume the new role on 1 September 2018 and report to board member and chief business transformation officer Ivan de la Sota.
“I am thrilled that a leader like Bart will join our Allianz team. His proven track record in helping businesses transform into digital players with a clear focus on simplicity and agility for the benefit of customers makes him the perfect fit for this role,” Sota stated.
