British Friendly has made three changes to its underwriting processes in order to help advisers during Covid-19.
The three changes are:
- Withdrawal of non-medical limits;
- Introduction of “Little T” tele-interviewing, and
- Introduction of virtual screenings.
British Friendly will not longer request medical evidence from an applicant based on age and benefit alone during Covid-19. This applies to pipeline clients and requirements will be cancelled as appropriate.
In addition, non-medical underwriting limits are the benefit level at which am insurer requests medical evidence for different age groups.
Furthermore, British Friendly expanded its partnership with Morgan Ash to tele-interview applicants if additional evidence is required. “Little T” is the process helping clients fill out forms over the phone rather than via post.
Virtual screenings are also provided, by Square Health, to underwrite applicants remotely if a screening is required. The mutual, however, is still issuing and receiving GP reports and will continue to do so for as long as it is possible to have them completed by surgeries.
