Nearly three-fourth (71%) of Americans are satisfied with health coverage provided by their current employer, according to a new report published by America’s Health Insurance Plan (AHIP).
Majority of the respondents (56%) said they take into consideration coverage provided by their current employer as parameter to decide whether to stay at current job or exit.
Currently, over 180 million Americans receive coverage through their employer.
AHIP president and CEO Marilyn Tavenner said: “Employer-provided coverage is a pillar of Americans’ health and financial security. The results reaffirm that American workers and their families depend on their coverage to provide them with protection and peace of mind.”
However, 71% of the respondents said they expect cost of health care will continue to rise in near future.
While choosing a plan, majority (58%) of the respondents look for comprehensive benefits of plan, while 42% take into account its affordability, the report noted.
The respondents ranked prescription drug coverage (51%), preventive care (47%), and emergency care (47%) among the benefits that matter most.
Bipartisan Policy Center senior vice president G. William Hoagland said: “With employer-provided coverage playing such a significant role in our health care system, we’re proud to bring so many experts together to discuss how to strengthen the market. Together, we can find bipartisan solutions to ensure it remains a strong and viable option for years to come.”
Nearly 1,000 Americans with employer-provided coverage participated in the survey that was conducted by Luntz Global Partners on behalf of AHIP.
