Tokio Marine Life Insurance Singapore (TMLS) has launched a marketing campaign to encourage couples to start discussing their financial future and post-retirement aspirations with each other.
TMLS’ #iKnowYouBest campaign was officially launched last weekend with the release of a campaign video that explores the unique understanding and bond shared between couples, and how these can help individuals better understand themselves and guide them in their financial planning and retirement decisions.
The video features four local couples of various backgrounds imagining their future together, and highlights the sometimes-differing expectations and dreams they have for their post-retirement lives.
The #iKnowYouBest campaign will run until October 2016 and TMLS is inviting the public to share personal anecdotes about their loved ones through a contest, accessible via the company’s official Facebook page from mid-September 2016.
Participants stand a chance to win the grand prize of a 3D/2N “staycation” package at Resorts World Sentosa, as well as shopping and dining vouchers.
By encouraging couples to think about their long-term future together, TMLS said it hopes to start Singaporeans thinking about financial planning at an early stage.
This will help to address the wider concern of an impending retirement gap in Singapore, which has in turn been fuelled by research findings indicating that most Singaporeans – especially women – consider themselves inadequately prepared for retirement.
TMLS said this is further complicated by the common sentiment among Singaporeans that their grown-up children can be relied upon as a stable, secure source of retirement income.
James Tan, CEO at TMLS, said: “While financial planning is an integral part of this process, starting the conversation about post-retirement expectations is the first step.
“With this campaign, we hope to inspire couples in Singapore to talk about their aspirations and how they can work together towards achieving their ideal futures.”
