Swiss insurer Zurich has joined forces with data solutions provider Carpe Data to automate and accelerate claims processes and combat insurance fraud.
Under the arrangement, the Swiss insurer will leverage Carpe Data’s claims monitoring platform ClaimsX to minimise the rising cost of claims.
ClaimsX makes use of publicly available web data for real-time assessment and automated decision making, from first notice of loss to settlement.
Zurich will use ClaimsX’s predictive online content to proactively audit injury claimants and identify cases where the claimant’s profile is at odds with the claims presented.
It is claimed that the process will not only help stop frauds at an early stage but will also facilitate faster payments to legitimate claims.
Carpe Data co-founder and COO Geoff Andrews said: “Data and technology play an integral role in catalysing change across the insurance industry, and Zurich recognises that.
“We’re excited to join forces with such a globally-minded and forward-thinking partner to streamline claims and bolster their fraud prevention efforts.”
Zurich UK ran a successful pilot last year and the firm is now ready to fully implement the solution in 2020.
Zurich claims fraud head Scott Clayton said: “Carpe Data is the latest addition to Zurich’s ongoing innovation programs focused on transforming the future of insurance.
“Carpe Data supports Zurich’s on-going efforts to improve the claimant experience by expediting low-risk claims, and by providing new insights to help our people make informed, accurate, and timely decisions.”
Last month, Zurich Insurance partnered with cybersecurity specialist CYE to develop a new cyber protection offering for businesses.
