Fiat and Vauxhall have introduced a swappage and a scrappage scheme, respectively, effectively offering customers a guaranteed value for vehicles if they trade them in for a new one.
In the case of Vauxhall, customers will be offered up to £2,000 (including VAT) towards a new Vauxhall when they trade-in their car for scrappage.
The scheme is open between 15 November and 31 December this year, and the cars being traded in must be registered to the customer for 90 days prior to the order date of the new vehicle.
Any customer scrapping their vehicle and ordering a new Astra, Mokka, Mokka X, GTC, new Zafira Tourer, Insignia or Cascada model will then receive £2,000 towards the cost of their new car.
Vauxhall introduced a similar scrapping scheme in 2015, which resulted in 15,000 older vehicles being scrapped.
Fiat’s campaign, which it has named ‘The Big Swappage Deal’, which offers customers an additional incentive to trade their current vehicle in, on top of any value a participating Fiat dealer has put on the customer’s car.
The swappage offer will also run until 31st December 2016.
The deal covers the entire range of Fiat models except the new 124 Spider, with the bonus offered varying between £500 and £2,500, depending on the Fiat model chosen.
Paul Runza, brand manager Fiat UK, said: “The Fiat Swappage Scheme will appeal to customers with cars of any age, make or model.
“However the offer is still available for customers who do not have a part exchange vehicle – they will be eligible for a Swappage cash discount of up to £2,500.”
